Vintage IWASAKI 3M Tokiwa 70mm Japanese Straight Razor
Tokiwa means what Tokiwa Shokai(distributor name) and “M”means medium hard(heat treat).
I had heard of those abbreviation letters meaning from Mr. Iwasaki and Mr. Mizuochi, but I kind of forgot the most of them.
I should record them.
The funny thing was what they already forgot some of abbreviation letters meaning they put on at the time.
Since Sanjyo Seisakujyo had lost scale making machine from flood damage in 2004, they cannot make western style straight razor.
They make just Japanese style straight razors.
It looks it has used and sharpened many times, but it is still in very good condition to me, and I see some wearing on the shoulder and edge.
I see also one tight crack on the scale on the pin(see the picture).
It should be no problem for the function right now.
Silver shell color scale is kind of rare color in Iwasaki straight razors.
The blade length: 70mm (2 3/4 inch)
The total length of the razor: 145mm (5 3/4 inch)
The thickness of the shoulder: 6mm (1/4 inch)
The width of the blade from the edge to the shoulder: 17mm-18mm (11/16 inch) The total weight of the razor: 1.7oz.
