Aoki Horse Hide Strop and 1948 Fire Hose Strop Size: 600mmX65mm
I have been doing cutlery business for over 15 years, but I grew up leather bag and case craft's company in Japan.
My father leather craft's factory had been a part of my house where was my playground.
I had helped his business from childhood to grown-up such as gluing contact cement with brush or riveting or thinning leather, etc.
My father is almost 90 years old, and still running the business.
I have been a Kanoyama strop Co. dealer for more than 15 years, so I have seen hundreds of Kanoyama strops, and fixed minor blemish points a lot.
By the way, there are two of strops in the paper box;
One is hose hide strop 600mmX65mmX3-4mm
The other is vintage Canvas strop which is year 1948 made fire hose (flax and linen), and it was made in USA
600mmX65mmX5mm
The Canvas strop was made by my wife who used to be a designer for clothing company.
The material of the strop is used 1948 vintage fire hose made by flax and Linen
It is from used US made fire hose, so it is already much softer than it was new.
It is ready to use it.
It is already washed, but it has some stains and dirty spots, because it had been
used as real fire hose.
The horse hide came from one of world-famous top-quality leather tanning company Horween in Chicago, USA.
Lots of high-end Cordovan craft companies use their Cordovan.
The horse hide strop is able to use as finishing razor blade stropping.
The Canvas strop is able to use as lower grit stropping.
The strops should hang on the clip side on the wall, and the other side should hold on tight with one hand to make straight and tension the strop, and moving forward shoulder side gently.
